As Director of e-mail Product Development for
Reed Business Information US (formerly Cahners Business
Information), a subsidiary of Reed Elsevier, oversaw the strategy, development
and ongoing management of over 170 unique B2B e-mail newsletter titles. Established
standards and best practices for e-mail initiatives, and worked directly with
the editorial, creative and technical teams.
Led a strategic/creative team that developed a
combination registration / e-mail marketing / contest program (B2C) for
Hasbro, the second-largest manufacturer of toys and games ($3B in sales), which resulted in a 300% increase in growth of their opt-in e-mail list.
Member of the product team that launched CQ Alert, Congressional
Quarterly's first subscription-based website and their first e-mail newsletter
product. Congressional Quarterly's subscriber base is B2B, and includes
government affairs professionals (lobbyists) and members of Congress.
Developed, launched and marketed an options trading service website
and e-mail alert product while at KCI Communications, a publisher of B2C financial
advisory newsletters. Met our first year revenue goal of $200,000 in just
under three months.
Provided strategy, information architecture and marketing expertise to
organizations (Marriott and the American College of Physicians were clients)
as a member of the CompuServe Business Services Group in the late 1980's; we
developed 'private networks' for clients, the precursors to Websites.

Current Activities
As an e-mail professional, Jeanne has developed more than 200 unique e-mail
newsletters titles, e-mail marketing campaigns and e-mail renewal series. She's also led
product teams in developing Websites, both paid and free. Jeanne's approach
stresses revenue generation and ROI (return on investment) over impressions,
opens and clicks.
Jeanne consults for medium to enterprise-sized organizations; her expertise has
helped Congressional Quarterly, Hasbro, Network Solutions, Reed
Business Information US (formerly Cahners
Business Information) Siemens AG and Verizon meet or exceed their online goals.
She also occasionally does strategic work for start-up dot coms.
In addition to consulting, Jeanne is a columnist for
ClickZ.com, writes
articles for other
publications and
speaks at industry events. She
also publishes The Jennings Report,
an e-mail newsletter containing market research, articles and other resources
for e-mail marketing professionals, and is Vice President of Washington, DC

After graduating from Dickinson College (Carlisle, PA) with a Bachelor's degree,
double major in economics and political science, Jeanne went to Georgetown
University (Washington, DC) and earned her MBA with a concentration in
marketing. Still a Georgetown Resident, but now living with her husband and
their cat, Jeanne is a huge fan of the Washington Redskins and Washington
Capitals.
